Quantum Libya Community Summit is an online event which is dedicated to take us on an interesting journey to learn the importance of quantum technologies, and how to engage everyone from diverse backgrounds to build the quantum roadmap. Join us now and invite your friends and colleagues so no one will be missed out!
Agenda:
Learning Session: Quantum Devices, The Path To Quantum Computing.
02:00 PM - 02:40 PM EET
In this Session Dr. Asem Elarabi, PhD will give us a deep insight "Quantum Devices, the Path to Quantum Computing" with hands on experience. Dr. Asem is a quantum electronics researcher at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), and currently he is the electronics research support team leader, where he works with multiple teams to achieve their quantum research goals.Towards a well structured deep-tech ecosystem
02:40 PM - 03:00 PM EETIn this session, we will highlight the opportunity for Libya and the Milestones of the next steps to be taken in the Libyan educational systems and the ICT big firms. In this talk we will cover the following:
- How innovation is the kay element towards a distributed tech ecosystem.
- What actions Libya needs, in order to build the required roadmap in the deep-tech era.Panel Discussion
03:00 PM - 04:00 PM EETQuantum Tech in Libya; opportunities, challenges, and the importance of building the community.
Networking Session
03:00 PM - 04:00 PM EETOne-on-One attendees will be networking live with each other with 5 minutes limit for each round.
P.S.: For our global enthusiasts about our summit, kindly be informed that we will use the local Arabic language as the official language. However, we are happy to have you joined to learn more about what we are planning to do and to support our baby-steps toward building the quantum community.

IBM Quantum Challenge Africa; Big Continental Success!
The IBM Quantum Challenge Africa was held between Sep 09 — Sep 21. The IBM Research Lab in South Africa and the University of the Witwatersrand have developed a quantum computing challenge that focuses on the fields of optimization, finance, and chemistry.
This challenge has further boosted participants’ quantum computing skills and gave them the tools to devise the best solutions to real-world issues faced in Africa. Here’s some KPI’s quoted and provided by the team behind this challenge:
{
Thank you to the over 900 participants who actively participated in the IBM Quantum Challenge Africa 2021!
We're highly impressed with the dedication, knowledge, enthusiasm, and tireless work shown by this community and we hope you learned new concepts and enjoyed the real-world applications of Quantum Computing in challenges relevant to Africa. Please take some time to recognize your achievements!
Here are some key highlights & stats from the challenge:
Over 615 participants completed at least one lab!
Over 465 participants completed all three labs!
Just under 2000 jobs sent to a real quantum computer!

Let’s take a moment to get to know Libyan landscapes;
Cyrene, Eastern of Libya.
Cyrene (/saɪˈriːni/; Ancient Greek: Κυρήνη; Standard Arabic: شحات, romanized: shahat) was an ancient Greek and later Roman city near present-day Shahhat, Libya. It was the oldest and most important of the five Greek cities in the region. It gave eastern Libya the classical name Cyrenaica that it has retained to modern times. Located nearby is the ancient Necropolis of Cyrene.
Cyrene lies in a lush valley in the Jebel Akhdar uplands. The city was named after a spring, Kyre, which the Greeks consecrated to Apollo. It was also the seat of the Cyrenaics, a famous school of philosophy in the fourth century BC, founded by Aristippus, a disciple of Socrates.
What is important to know that Cyrene was founded around 631 BC and abandoned in the 4th century AD.
